DEAD OF NIGHT

by Peter Whalley

Directed by Maqbul Mohamed, assisted by Wairimu Mwaura, DEAD OF NIGHT is the story of Jack. Jack has just been acquitted of manslaughter, and regales his girlfriend, Maggie, and their neighbours with a disparaging account of the trial. According to the evidence - most of it Jack's - the victim broke in late at night and, on being confronted by Jack a struggle ensued and the gun went off. A clear case of self-defence. Or was it?

DEAD OF NIGHT stars CHAO MWATELA, ANDREW MUTHURE, LOUIZAH WANJIKU and GILBERT LUKHALIA

Curtain Call

Curtain Call depicts an amusingly chaotic day in the life of Mr Ochieng', manager of the PHOENIX PLAYERS. He has a lot to deal with: DORETA MASON, director of an amateur production of OKLAHOMA at the theatre, upsets the stage crew with her demands for real horses in the show; MS MURDSTONE, the far from genial agent from the arts council, arrive to assess the theatre eligibility for a grant ; the front of house manager‘s flirty ways upsets Mr Ochieng's secretary CINDY and worst of all, DORETA’S husband STEVE, chairman of the board of trustees, appears on the scene, bringing negotiation skills reminiscent of ATTILA the HUN to bear on the ever- worsening situation.

All ends happily (for most of them), but not before quite a few harsh words have been spoken.

This amazing comedy adopted the Phoenix way is a must watch for all those whose been wondering what actually goes on backstage and before a show is put together. Directed by Anthony Kinuthia assisted by Eugene Oyoo.

NUTS

Directed by Ian Mbugua, NUTS is the story of MILLICENT OGUTU who has been charged with manslaughter. However, her parents, MUKURIA MWANGI and ANGIE MUSIRA have conspired with the AG's chamber represented by lawyer CHARLES KIARIE to have Millicent declared mentally insane so as not to stand trial.

Millicent hires her own lawyer, STEPHEN MURUA to help challenge this declaration and determine her mental state. A special hearing held at Chiromo Mental Hospital before Mr. Justice MAKBUL MOHAMED exposes very embarrassing family skeletons!.

Others in the cast include DR ALFRED MUGAMBI, a psychiatrist at Chiromo Hospital, and HARRY EBALE as the court orderly.

This hard-hitting drama questioning our mental state is also full of humour and will have you wondering who exactly is nuts?!
